Home Network
I should be able to figure this out, but it's getting the best of me.HAve two machines, a desktop pc running XP Pro /SP2 and a laptop running XP Home / SP1. I have been able to share files from the desktop for months now. Suddenly, I can't see the shares after I moved my PC to another room. Nothing has changed on the desktop nor the laptop. Both have the firewall turned off, no other firewall software. Both login as the same account. Both are part of the same workgroup. Suddenly I'm getting the "you do not have rights to this device. see network administrator." This is aggravating me to the Nth degree. I can't see the shares at all via Network Neighborhood. Here is the odd part though, just found out. I had a shortcut on the laptop to a previous shared directory on the desktop. I can click it and the share is available, not a cached version but the current share. If I change the address bar information I can get to anything that is shared on the desktop, but I can't browse it via NetHood. Now how wierd is that?

Augrr, it would be nice if you stuck to one user, it makes it easier. As far as your problem goes, well dunno, chalk it up to XP having fun with you Maybe someone else can help you, things like this sometimes get sorted out by a reinstall, and sometimes people never find out the problem
