    Multimedia audio controller

    I have read about this time and time again..but here it is again for everyone else to read..

    Just upgraded my computer..had sound on my old mobo using Ac97 but using the new mobo with ac97 i have no sound..And to top it all off i get that stupied little controller thing trying to install everytime i reboot.I even tried to install a SB live 5.1 but it wouldn't go because of the multimedia audio controller Somebody please help me as in what i should do..also should you ask i did disable the onboard audio and modem while trying to install the SB live..Now either way i dont care what i use i just want some sound..Here are my specs..

    OS XP W/SP 2
    IE 6.0.2900.2189(IE 6.0 SP2)
    DirectX 4.09.00.0904(DX 9.0c)
    Cpu AMD sempron 1743 Mhz(10.5x166)2500+
    Mobo ID 09/13/2004-KT600-8237-6A6LYE1FC-00
    Mobo ECS KT600-A (4PCI, 1AGP, 1 CNR, 3 DDR DIMM,Audio,Lan)
    Chipset Via VT8377 Apollo KT600
    System mem 768 MB (DDR SDRAM)

    Video Adapter Nvidia GeForce 5200 (128mb)

    Nope i tried that one...Nothing doing...Still comes up with the yellow ! next to the Multimedia audio controller...Thanks anywhos..Anyone else ??

    based on the info you have provided , that is the correct driver for the onboard sound chip.

    remove the pci card , then start up in safe mode and remove any duplicate devices , then run the driver install.

    have you just changed the m/board , and reconnected your drive to a new board?

    Well i dont know whats up not..Its still showing the SB live installed but It really not there...Any ideas before i try those drivers you gave me ?

    1:was it just a motherboard change ,using the same windows instilation

    2: have you been in safe mode and deleted "phantom" items?

    3: is there a sound blaster card in it now? , if so remove it

    4: when you have done 2 and 3 then install the supplied driver

    1)fresh format..
    2)SB card is not it there now
    3)did safe mode deleted SB live devices
    4)changed bios to optimal preformance
    5)still getting same problem...expect i dont even see the AC97 under device manager..Thinking of doing a format ..anything else ??
