umax astra 1220 p and xp

I have a umax astra 1220p. I recently upgraded to xp home.
I am trying to install but when installing with drivers pulled from the web I get an error that the drivers are not good.

Does anyone have the correct drivers or can you guide me what to do to get my scanner working?

    Thanks

Note for Windows XP: This Vista CAN version supports Windows 2000. A special Windows XP version does not give it. The following installation instructions were successfully tested under Windows XP, at different computer systems. There is however no warranty that it under all configurations/systems runs. This is to be operated the only possibility the Astra 1220P and/or 2000P under Windows XP.
This is to be operated the only possibility the Astra 1220P and/or 2000P under Windows XP. For connecting problems you place in the BIOS, the eingetzten computer, another parallel haven (LPT) to mode (preferably EPP 1,7). Consult if necessary the manual of the Main board for proceeding. It should come it with the start of the Desktop to error messages helps it Vista ACCESS from the autostart to enfernen if necessary.
There is no support with an employment of Vista CAN 3.55P under Windows XP: If after Vista CAN installation of the drivers is not registered by Windows (XP/2000) correctly in the equipment manager, it must be merged in the equipment manager manually. You recognize this by the fact that Windows recognizes the attached scanner when starting as unknown equipment. Close the assistant window with "breaking off". Extract they these files into a file on their non removable disk. In the equipment manager the scanner with its internal identification was registered under "other devices". Click two times on this entry. The characteristic window of the equipment is opened. Click on the rider "driver" and then on the switching surface "updating". Select the option "software of a list..." and in the following dialogue window the option "do not search...". Click on "far one".
In the list of the hardware types you select "picture working on devices". Click on the switching surface "data medium" and refer you to the listing in that you the straight INF files extracted. Click on "opening" and select you from the Auswahliste your scanner. Ignore the Windows Logo test warning and click you on "installation Fortsetzen"/"Fertigstellen". The scanner was registered now correctly in the equipment manager under "picture working on devices". For the Screenshots for installation you click here. If the scanner should not be able to be addressed at all, then this is either because of an attached printer or the attitudes for the parallel haven in the Bios of the PC's. to problems of this kind you visit our FAQs web page.

    VistaScan Version 3.55 Parallelport
Note for Windows XP: This VistaScan version supports Windows 2000. There is no Windows XP VistaScan release. The following installation notes shows a way to use the Astra 1220P/2000P under Windows XP. This procedure was tested on various Windows XP workstations. It cann't be guaranteed, that it works with all systems / configuratzions.

This is the only possible way to use the Astra 1220P/2000P under Windows XP.

If you encounter any connection problerms try to set another paralle port (LPT) mode in the BIOS of the mainboard ( EPP 1.7 is recommended ). When there is a problem during build up of the desktop try to remove VistaAccess from the StartUp.

VistaScan 3.55P is provided on an "as is" basis. There is no support available for Windows XP.

In case, after the VistaScan installation, Windows (XP/2000) does not register the driver correctly with the device manager and the scanner gets detected as an unknown component at Windows start up, the proper entry has to be done manually. Close the Assistent dialog with a cancel button. Extract these files into a folder on your hard disk. The scanner has been registered as an unknown device. Double click this entry the device manager to open the properties dialog. Click on "Driver" and then on the button "Update". Select the option "Software list..." and in the next dialog the option "Do not search...". Click on "Continue". In the list of hardware types select "Image processing devices". Click on the button "Disk" and refer to the folder in which you have just expanded the INF files. Click on "Open" and in the list select your scanner. Ignore the Windows-Logo test warning and click on "Continue"/"Finish". Now the scanner has been correctly register with the device manager and will be displayed under "Image processing devices". For screen shots illustrating the installation click hier.
In case the scanner will not be detected at all, check either the printer (in case one is connected) or the settings of the parallel port in the Bios of your PC. For solutions to such problems see our FAQs Web page.
