    Microphone problems with XP

Have tried to set up a PC microphone (Plantronics 39dBV Pa; 3kΩ; 100Hz-8kHz) on XP and cannot get the microphone volume meter to register any sound input using the Microphone wizard.

Have tested the microphone independently and it works. The computer has two microphone input jacks and neither works.
    The sound output/speakers work fine.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem. Many thanks in advance

    Welcome to Windrivers feelfrozen

What Windows are you running? What is your sound card?
If I had to guess, I would say look at the speaker configuration, if it's set for 5.1, then the microphone input thinks it's a speaker output.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
