USB Ports Not Working
Hi,
Have an Advent PC, running Windows XP SP2
Up to Xmas now problems, but since none of the USB or the built in Memory Card reader doesn't work.
Checked ports - they all work as I have a light tester that shines when plugged in the usb port
Gone through Device Manager, and no USB devices listed - just the Hubs and controllers. Have un-installed and re-installed drivers, deactived and re-activated. No changes. updated drivers as well.
Rolled back SP2 so left with SP1 - no change.
Running out of ideas...
Problem may have occured due to a failed installation of a scanner - Have deleted / uninstalled the software, etc. Did throw up a 'USB has had too much power' type message. Can't be sure that nothing has worked since, but it was around the same time.
Have I got to do something to the Registry? How do I edit this and what to if this is the solution.
Also, is the 'program' 'usbdetector.exe' an important one?
Thanks everyone,
Justin
