    Help with Directx 9.0c install

    Hello all.

    first of all, I am adopying a child in Guatemala and am stuck down here with a very slow modem connection which prevents me from going crazy downloading any and every device driver trying to hunt and peck for a solution.

    Now for my problem: I am forced to install directx 9.0c to play a game. When I run the install I get an "error copying the file" towards the end. When I run the directx diag it says that i have an older version of dpvvox.dll so now i cannot play or install it.

    I am on a toshiba a15-489 satellite laptop with windows xp media edition 2002.

    I thought I'd try to rename the file before trying to install but windows won't let me - it gives me a cyclic redundancy error.

    Please help!

    start run cmd sfc /scannow have windows disk handy. reboot then install 9.0
