    Unhappy Card Reader Problems

    Hello,

I recently purchased a 7in1 card reader from ebuyer, however the enclosed driver disc didn't work. The manufacturer of the reader is safecom. I managed to track down what I thought was the correct driver, but still can't get any joy. The power led comes on, however that's about it - no extra drive letters showing up, nothing! Help please! I am using windows 98.

    Thanks!

1 Does it detect when you put the USB plug into the machine?
2 Did you install the drivers or setup befor eplugging in the USB cable?
Have you updated the motherboard chipset drivers if messecary?

It did detect the first time I plugged it in, however now it has to be done manually by using add new hardware. I don't think the drivers i'm using are the correct ones, I did install them before plugging in the usb cable.

Why would you need to update the motherboard drivers?
Maybe someone has the same card reader and the correct drivers?!

Because the chipset drivers control the USB which in turn controls the card reader

    Fryster,
did you figure this one out? I've just bought the same card reader and now wish I hadn't. Win98 is recognising the device as a "Mass Storage Device" but says the drivers are all for USB controllers.
It does work on Win2k though, without having to install any drivers.

Any help much appreciated, Cheers, Simon.
