Andy's correct. Over here you almost have to walk on eggshells when you quit as it's very possible for you to be dumped on very easlily. It's almost a jelousy thing!

A friend at my old firm got made redundant and was due a big payout, (£25,000), pension rights and all sorts of benefits. The day before he was due to go he sent an e-mail to the whole company saying how much he'd enjoyed his time at the place and hoping he hadn't fathered too many babies! (he was known as a joker) One lady complained and he was fired for gross misconduct and marched out of the building in disgrace!!! No redundancy money due anymore.

He did eventually win a court case but the damge was done.

Good luck Andy, I hope you leave something somewhere to remind them of you

I've seen it in the past someone has handed in the notice, the boss has refused and then sacked them for gross misconduct saying something else has happened, and then saying that person after they had been told they were sacked handed there notice in.

The company always sides with the manager then.

    Crap I know.

Anyway, 1 week, 4 days now

Yes. Purchase any type of fish from a fishmonger (for freshness) and leave it somewhere where it will never be found. Server room is good, a managers office perhaps, but just make sure it's in the most inacessible place possible. Inside a computer somewhere would be fantastic

Or maybe buy 2!! (advisable to do it on 2nd last day)

The terms unfair or constructive dismisal come to mind when knowingly firing an employee in such situations and if the company is big enough they will rather pay out than have their name raked over the coals in both the courts and local papers.
Of course the term cover your ***[small donkey] is a good motto to keep in these situations as burdon of proof is on you.
As to leaving presents your best not as you could end up with a tidy bill yourself for any loss of income or repairs the company has to undertake.Stay tight lipped,do the job your paid for and dont leave until your finishing time as bridges once burned are hard to rebuild.

This reminded me of an email I received not long ago. This lady ate shrimp and left some of the shells in the curtain rods. It was her last day in the house and her Ex and his new wife were moving in. The shrimp started to smell after only a couple of days. Since it was so well hidden in the curtain rods, it was never found, but the smell found its way all around the house!

But seriously, you will feel much better if you dont' leave anything behind. The best part of you was walked on, so leave it at that, take the high road and enjoy your new employment.

Fax them a copy of your paycheck every week with your important numbers scratched out and a little handwritten note that says, "Wish you were here!"

An easy one would be to remove all the balls from the mice and hide them in an empty case.

This is why I won't work for anyone but myself anymore. I refuse to take that sort of guff from anyone these days, so why set myself up for it?

Congrats on the new job, Andy.

Congrats on the new job! Hope you'll be working with better colleagues from now on. No one deserves that kind of treatment.
