2500+ Barton

i have a 2500+ Barton. I got this cpu with a new mobo to replace my old cpu/mobo on my old computer.

I thought the 2500+ Barton should run somwhere at about 1.83Ghz when i set the FSB at 166Mhz. However, i only see speeds of 1.0Ghz.

I'm new to computer building so i don't know how to fix it. Please help.

Set up
AMD 2500+ Barton
Soltek motherboard
Maxtor 80 Gb (Boot drive)
Maxtor 160 Gb (formatted to 127 Gb)
1GB Kingston PC 3200
ATI All-in-Wonder 9600
Sony DVD+/- RW

Tried not setting any FSB & just using 'auto' ?

Yeah sure 11 x 166 = 1826 which is 'near enough' what that chip should be, but generally when you go about setting one half of the equation you also need to set the other, so have you got facility to over-ride the multiplier value in your bios (or via jumpers or switches) ?

A note of the m/b in question might let someone answer better than that

I have a very similiar setup. I have the 2500 Barton.
I am running at 1.82 mhz.
I took the defaults on my motherboard.
I have kingston 3200 ran (512k)
I have an ASUS motherboard.
well i actually two identical systems and both are 1.82 and very stable

My settings are cpu 11.0
cpu ext freq 166/33
cpu vcore auto
cpu vcore 1.65
memory freq auto

I have tried to overclock it but it blows out the registry.
So, I leave it stock..... It's very stable.
The extra speed isn't really worth it to me.
