samsung x15 plus laptop
I'm having some issues with the above model of laptop. It is used primarily for presentations across a projector. Someone whipped the VGA cable from the back while it was projecting, the screen went grey and the system crashed. The battery had to be removed to get it to switch off.
Although it still starts up ok, the USB ports don't work. This is inconvenient for presentation work. I've tried repairing the registry, cleaning the registry, uninstalling and reinstalling all the USB and a system restore. The drivers are all at their latest versions. I would like to avoid a restore to factory settings and I doubt it would do any good. I have two optical mice - the microsoft one doesnt work but another generic one lights up and doesnt work.
Any good ideas?

Hmmm, are you sure there is not physical damage to the USB ports? Perhaps there is a loose solder joint on one of the connections.

I reckoned that was probably the case. Don't know how it could have happened. I've tried all software routes other than the factory settings which I will try tonight. Any other ideas?
