    need to view Publisher files without Publisher

    Okay I've got a question and hopefully a quick answer. I've got a user at work who needs to view Publisher files. We dont want to purchase Publisher since their just viewing. Now I understand there are ways to view Publisher files without Publisher. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks!
    I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

    if these are existing files i think you are out of luck. if someone is sending you the files they can be saved or sent as HTML emails.

    Powerpoint Viewer - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    Don't think there is anything like that for viewing Publisher files though.

    if whoever is sending them opens them and then saves them they can go to the bottom and be saved as a variety of different format files inc word and doc and older formats like rtf

    Is the point of publisher not that you publish ? This whole topic seems like a bit of irony to me ! .. this is like saying I know my car has reverse, but how do I get my wife who doesn't like it, to reverse without using it ?

    Try the Trial version here ? that's free & will solve your immediate problem

    You'll need Acrobat for that though.

    I use Publisher every week, and the easiest way I could see would be either to save the file to HTML, MHTML or straight into an image file such as JPG, GIF, or even PS (postscript).

    Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

    but none of that will work if you can't open the files to begin with.

    i don't believe it will work for publisher and remember too it may not work with files created with the latest versions and it may loose something in the conversion.

    [QUOTE=hudsonsmith]Nope. Get free CutePDF writer.
    Thanks for the advice. I ended up using PDF Writer. I was able to convert the Publisher file to PDF so my user could view with Adobe.

    So huh ? this has got to be the most back to front way of doing something I've come accross ! ... the sender of these files could have made them available in all sorts of formats like "wot it saiz 'ere " & I really do find myself wondering what the hell you might be doing ? (& as a btw publisher generally doesn't convert so well into pdf due to all that stuff I'm not so sure I understand about - RGB 'colour spaces' & CMYK {graphics stuff!})..

    & will not pagemaker of the 'right version' (so same version as publisher as they change the formats seemingly with every version) open publisher ? & I'm sure word, with the right converters can also recover the text of any publisher file if you've got the right converters - this refers

    & I still don't know why you didn't just grab a trial copy ? .. mind much of this topic has me puzzled ..
