Dell Dimension 8200 Boot Sequence
Thought I had just the bad hard drive. Boots to Me ESD floppy, no fixed disk found in fdisk. Loaded on test computer (XP Pro), launched Disk Management mmc, no drive found (shows as "F" on this pc if found).
Sooo...Replaced hard drive and went to change boot sequence to boot to CD and load OS.
F2 Setup/Boot Sequence and here were my choices:
1. Diskette Drive (w/checkmark to indicate enabled)
2. Processor:
3. Processor:
No amount of selecting/moving/enabling/disabling could bring a CD-ROM or HDD into the picture.
I even booted to the floppy, formatted Drive C: FAT32, created Windows/Options/Cabs folder, copied cab files from CD-ROM and launched setup, ran through initial install, but, when ready for reboot, as expected, no option to boot to HDD so back to square one.
Corrupted BIOS?

Try another ribbon cable. If drive was master, set as slave. Can you hear the drive spin up when you turn the power on?

Issue Resolved
When I finally figured out how to reset the BIOS defaults, I got the full compliment of bootable drives to choose from again. On the Dell 8200, you hit Alt + F to restore defaults.
