Uninstall ME or reformat hard drive with no floppy disk
Hello...need some advice please. Due to continual problems over the last fortnight with "blue screen of death" and "windows protection error" messages, i would like to either uninstall ME and reinstall, or if necessary, reformat the hard drive. Problem is, i have no start up disk for the floppy, and i believe i need this? I can't create one because every time i try, the floppy stops responding and i have to restart pc. Is it possible to uninstall ME or reformat the hard drive without the floppy disk? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for your responses. Have tried to create book disk as suggested, but get this error message: Disk Error on track 0, head 0. Floppy Error.
I realise that i can boot from CD, but when i try to uninstall ME it asks me to insert floppy start up disk - which i can't do.

Have you tried a new floppy disk? You could have a corrupt 3.5 floppy disk.
You may need to try several to find a good one.Happens sometimes.
Your floppy disk isn't write protected with the small sliding tab is it?
See illustration at below site scroll down the page.

Can you make a floppy boot disk on another computer?

Thanks for your reply street1
I have tried several disks...none of them work, and none of them are write protected. Will have to see if i can make one on someone else's computer...if i can find anyone that still uses ME and not XP! Thanks again for your help

I'm from Georgia USA where if you goof up nobody notices"seems normal"
No problem-If I don't strictly control myself.I lose all contact with reality.
It's a documented disease found in Southern Georgia Called-Bubba-ism.
Redneck Bubba- Christin name:R.D.Neck
Redneck Bubba died in a fire and was burned pretty bad. The morgue needed someone to identify the body, so his two best friends, Daryl and Gomer, were called for. Daryl went in and the mortician pulled back the sheet. Daryl looked and said, "Yup, he's burnt pretty bad. Roll him over." So the mortician rolled him over and Daryl looked and said, "Nope, ain't Bubba." The mortician thought that was rather strange and he was pretty sure of the body's identity.
Gomer was then brought in to identify the body. Gomer took a look at him and said, "Yup, he's burnt real bad. Roll him over." The mortician rolled him over and Gomer looked down and said, "Nope, ain't Bubba."
The mortician asked, "How can you tell?"
Gomer said, "Well, Bubba had two a$$holes."
"What? He had two a$$holes?" asked the mortician.
"Yup, everyone knew about it, too. Every time we went to town, folks would say, "Here comes Bubba with them two a$$holes."

Thank you street 1...i'm not using the Compaq anymore. It's weird, but i haven't had the blue screen of death all day - i did reinstall ME, but i've done that before and the pc starts playing up again within a day or two. That's why i figured i'd probably have to completely uninstall ME first? Not sure what to do now, but thanks very much for all your help. Loved the joke
