Acer 1208A-137 CDROM driver for winXP, anyone have any?

Acer 1208A-137 CDROM (manufactured May 2001) driver for winXP, does anyone have one? Or is this CDROM not supported by winXP?

I have an issue with one, it will power up fine but when I try to access the drive through winME and winXP there is nothing there. It does not see the CD's inside.

    Please help

It would appear so. The only drivers I could find for that were for Win98.Does it show up in your BIOS? Have you run the compatability test on the XP setup disk? Might get some info from that.

It should work fine with the default Microsoft driver. Have you tried another cd-rom in this system? Do you have the correct board drivers installed? Most current Bios update?

Thanks for the replies guys, it does show in BIOS, and it also shows in Windows. The problem is I cannot access it in windows or in DOS.

I have tried it in 3 other PC's and it fails in each of them as well...they are running winXP Pro, winME and win98.

I have successfully run two different CDROM's in the affected PC so it is not the IDE, BIOS or mobo setups at fault.

I think this is a hardware issue. The CDROM must be faulty.

If the drive fails in 3 other pc's then it is bad. CDROM's are dirt cheap now.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.
