dos workstation setup with network
Anyone remember how to setup a network connection with the following:
Workstation running dos 6.22. Network card 3c905b-tx pci network card.
Why do this?
I work for a company that uses european software, they don't like microsoft much and they have all of their stuff in dos. To do backups I have to either use floppies or zip disks if available and installed on the workstations. Want to be able to connect from the workstation to a windows 2000 server and upload files, backups, etc. to the server.
I have found dos odi drivers but have no idea on how to setup.
any help would be great
thanks
Chris

Christopher,
Welcome to Windrivers!
When I have to DOS network stuff, I use a boot disk usually. I know this doesn't completely answer your question, but I'll give you a link to the boot disk page I get them from;
TCP/IP and Other Boot Disks
If you d/l a boot disk, you can take a look at how it is setup (autoexec.bat, config.sys, driver etc.) and you could copy it to your HDD and edit that stuff to suit your needs on that workstation. I think there is a boot disk there that is for the 3C905 card you mentioned.
Good luck.

You should be able to do this as long as your server is set to handle older clients (which it does by default).

What you have to do is to get the network client files for Microsoft networking.
You can get it from Windows 31, which is really dos.
The file that starts Microsoft networking is net.exe, just run the file and follow the directions or run net /? will give you the commands.

Yes and no. Or rather, no and after your remark - yes. But, in the first place, I came here, found this forum by google.com looking for something which happened to be contained in a rather old post. So it is internet, everything accessible is NOW - not 6 or whatever years old.
