SATA and IDE HD's on same MB
I was haveing trouble last night installing a new SATA HD. I think I found a couple of articles that will help me how to setup it up for single use.
So....
Is it possible to install the SATA as the main HD and use spare IDE HD's that I have as additional storage devices?
What are my possibilites?
SATA HD - 160GB - bought new; no OS
IDE # 1 - 30GB - Was main on previous PC w/ OS - XPPro/SP2
IDE # 2 - 10GB - data storage on previous PC w/o OS
I ask b/c my other PC crashed and I want to at least get the data off of the other drives and, at minimal, store to the new SATA drive.
Should I do OS install on the SATA and get everything going, and then connect the IDE's? Will it recognizes in this manner?
MB is an ASUS K8V SE DELUXE K8T800

I have used that exact setup a number of times
Cause whether its a harddrive or a cdrom on an ide channel.
Its just an IDE device
There are usually 2 places in the bios to select the boot devices
Boot Device and Boot Order
look for something like that
