Intel Mod
Of the free software, I know PC Inspector is well regarded, and I've used it successfully myself.
For one to buy, I've seen folk say GetDataBack worked for them when others failed, but I've not tried it.

from what I have gathered on this subject his only hope would be a professional data recovery place or some big time forensics software and then it would be more or less luck to get what he needed back intact.

Would be nice if there was something out there for that because I have seen a couple cases like this.

GetDataBack and RStudio have given me some degree of success doing this in the past.
If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Even though ive had success rescuing data after a format and reinstall, its a bugger getting data back that been deleted from the recycle bin even if done minutes after the event!

I have found that Tiramisu works in recovering data from a formated hard drive. For recovering data from a recycle bin PC inspector or File scavenger does an excellent job.
