Belkin Router problems

Hi all,

I've got a Belkin ADSL Modem / wireless router (F5D7632uk4) which works ok. However the current IP is 192.168.2.1 (default) but I want to change it to 192.168.10.3. I change the IP via the web interface then change the IP for the PC to 192.168.10.10 (I'm not using DHCP for this PC). Reboot the router, but I can't get into the web interface and have to restore the factory settings.

Anyone else had this problem?

The firmware is the latest (only) version.

When you make the changes, can you ping the router???

There should be a reboot button on it somewhere.
Does your pc connect to the router? send/receive
Try switching to DHCP and see what happens.

Can't ping the router, haven't tried with DHCP yet (will try tonight)

Lights on the the router and NIC show that there is some sort of connection. I've pressed the reboot button on the router but that doesn't make any diffrence.

my mistake, I meant the RESET router button. Has anything been changed before this started happenning? What about other pc's?

At the moment there is only 1 PC connected to the Router.

There is only one button on the router. Press to reboot, press and hold to restore factory settings.

DHCP didn't make any diffrence. After changing IP address of the router, can't ping it or connect in any way but the connection lights on the router and NIC are on and flashing.

To be honest I'm on the brink of giving up, I asked a friend who had an older model Belkin router and he had the same problem. I've emailed Belkin support, mabe it's a known problem.

Try the belkin site, they might have a firmware upgrade for it.

Don't reboot. Disconnect the router from the modem. Change the IP to what you want and logoff. Log back on with the new IP. See if that works. Then logoff, reconnect the router and modem and log back on.

I can't disconnect the router from the modem as it's an all in one unit. I did try dropping the modem to ISP connection. Didn't make any diffrence.

I've pretty much given up and stuck with the default settings.

Set DHCP on the router, set your pc to use DHCP. Change the IP address and save however the router web interface allows you.

Go to a cmd prompt and type ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew.

Then try to ping the new router address. If it returns packets then you can log on to the router using the new IP address.

This should be simple but hey, this is computers we are talking about!
