Mass USB storage problems
I bought a NexStar external 3.5 hard drive enclousure it is USB 2.0 the software that came with it will not support windows xp because windows xp says that it doent need usb 2.0 drivers
It is bull because I cant never see the hardrive windows does not recognize it
Those anybody has this problem
please help tell me what to do

Sounds like a DOA drive. Try a different USB device in the port and see if it works. The ugly truth is quality control in the computer industry is a joke.

Agreed quality control in the pc industry is a joke , even over here in the UK.

Do any other devices install correctly on this port?
Is it a front or a rear port?
Are all the motherboard drivers up to date?
XP in fact doesnt require drivers for mass storage drivers usually

Fixed my problem by buying a ADS Turbo 2.0 usb pci card. Note the cd has the xp drivers but will not load them. The cd is nice enough to fully support drivers for ME & 98. The fine print in the Q&A section on ADS website said to go to microsoft for XP drivers. Forget Microsoft! You have to go to the ADS website and dig, dig, dig, to come up with a selfextract, USB2.exe file. This opens up 7 files including a usbport.inf xp support. Install this and the hardware will load the needed drivers. You'll have usb 2.0 for windows and usb 1.1 for dos programs.
