outlook 2002 not remembering password on exit.

I am currently suck on a issue with outlook 2002 were when open up outlook 2002 and press send and recieve it will ask you for the password. as long as you leave outlook 2002 open you will not have to type the password again. but as soon as you exit and reenter outlook you will have to reenter the password again.

this system is a windows xp Pro system with sp2. with office Small business xp loaded on it.

I have already tried this from Microsoft
    http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=290684

also have tried Uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft office

    a different *.pst file

I am running out of ideas any surgesstion would be welcomed.

That link you posted goes nowhere.

I've seen the same problem with Outlook Express. The only way I was able to get rid of it was to reboot. Don't know why, but it solved that problem.

    Just a suggestion.

Also, does this PC have direct access to the internet or is it going through a proxy server or firewall?

Let us know how it ends up.

I had already tried to uninstall and reinstall the product.

The only thing I seam to be coming up with is a Fresh Install of xp pro. which I hate to do for just one minor issue.

This is a "feature" if you are using RPC over http. For example you are a user who need to connect to a excahnge server and your ISP blocks port 135.

If this is the case, the fix is to install Outlook 2003.
