NVIdia GeForce 2 MX 32Mb install zapped BIOS need help
Hello,
I have a Presario 5000 P3 standard stuff, 800mhz, Duron Processor. I attempted to install a NVidia GeForce 2 MX 32mb video card in the AGP slot and it failed to boot. I reinstalled the original NVidia TNT 8mb card and it failed to boot. I have no video now. Can someone tell me what I have done and how to fix it? I am not a gamer, just a software developer and as such I must assure the ability to run on as many systems as possible, including Compaq low end systems. The attempted upgrade was to obtain SVideo connection. I can abandon the upgrade but would like to regain use of my Compaq 5000.

i doubt that it zapped the bios.
Whats more likely is that you have zapped something on the board.
disconnect everything and try starting it with just 1 stick of ram and onboard video.
Also you could try removing the battery and power plug for 30 minutes
which would reset the cmos or
use the clear cmos jumper on the motherboard

Just tried the suggested memory stick and cmos clearing remedy... No correction to the problem... I tested the 256mb stick in another PC and it worked fine... When the PC just begins to boot the green light on the monitor turns yellow.
