windows media player
Are there any DVD decoders for windows media player that are free? or just something that lets you watch DVDs

You usually get a DVD player application with DVD-Rom drives, check with your package.
Or you can just get the K-Lite Codec Pack here: http://mirror.edskes.com/ it contains free dvd-decoders.
Alternatively http://www.videolan.org/ is free and can play mostly anything.
