Ending Sample Windows
We have an XP box that gets a ending sample window each time we do a shutdown. The user finally has to close the window manually and the pc then shuts down. Anybody have any ideas of whats causing this. I haven't found anything on the internet that can explain this.

New one on me. Have you looked at the Event Viewer? I don't think this is a Windows error message, but is generated by another program.

Chen my friend, you're in luck. I had a client that was experiencing this same exact problem. After MUCH troubleshooting and ruling out viruses and spyware, I found the issue. It was the Intel wireless utility, or what was left of it.
My client runs a Dell Inspiron 8600 with an internal Intel wireless adapter. I downloaded the Intel wireless utility and reloaded it. Voila, all better and haven't seen the "Sample" window since.
Good luck and I'd love to hear the outcome!

Sorry it took a while to get back. We finally figured it out too, or should I say stumbled on the solution. We started to kill processes in task manager and that's how we figured it out. We unistalled the software as the pc didn't have a wireless card in it. It was a Dell D600.
