    Unhappy TOSHIBA satellite, help please

i have recently upgraded my satellite 1800-920
    From:
20GB HDD, 250k RAM windows 2000XP pro, office pro 2000

    To:
60GB HDD, 500K RAM windows 2003 XP pro, office pro 2003

every thing is cool apart from one thing.
when i scroll up or down a page, whether it be a web page or a document page. the page appears to 'ripple' in the direction of scroll?

also, when i play a movie on 200% or full screen, the same effect happens.
none of this never happened prior to the upgrade.

    can somebody help please?

Did you go out to the Toshiba site and get the latest video driver for XP? Also look in the bios for video memory settings, and increase it if you can, this definitely sounds like a video driver/ mem issue. If it' s an Nvidia or ATI you would be better off going to their sites and getting the latest ones there.......

What type of files are they? .zip? if so get Right clik on them and choose extract files, and extract them. if they are bare .inf's you can just launch the update driver wizard from device manager, and show them to the folder that you downloaded them to........ Let me know how you make out.....G

in the device manager, do i select the update wizard in video controller or video codec in sound, video and game controllers?

Now that theyre unzipped go to the device manager, you can do this by right clicking on the 'My computer " icon on your desktop or start menu and choosing properties, then choose the hardware tab and device manager button. Click the small + sign to the left of 'display adapters' and double clik the item lised below it, this will pull up a properties box, choose the driver tab, and then the update driver button. Follow the wizard through and choose "install from a list or specific location (advanced)" then on the next screen check the box to 'include this location in the search' and use the browse button to navigate to the folder you unzipped them to. The OK button will light up when a file is found, clik it and then next and finish..... You should be done......g

Thumbs up Hold it, hold it!!!!!!!!

took a chance and installed the drivers in 'other devices'
once the wizard had finished 'device adapters' had appeared in the device manager.
    after a re-boot ...................... all is well.

Great, glad to hear it . When working with computers, It helps to be creative, and take a chance that something 'might' work, rather than waiting til you know it will...

Thanks for the football lesson, being a yank I know little about it..... It's just the title of one of my favorite Bruce Cockburn songs....
