Red face can not access outlook express files

A friend of mine had someone work on his computer and they formatted and reloaded his hard drive. Unfortunately in the process he loast his email data.
I was able to recover most of his files including the Outlook Express *.dbx files under his old identity using Easyrecovery Pro. The problem I have now is how to get the files back into Outlook or Outlook Express where we can read and back them up. Any help would be appreciated.

Copy all the .DBX folders into a folder somewhere on the drive. Copy them into another folder as a backup just in case.

In Outlook Express, File-> Import -> Messages

Select Outlook Express 4 or 6, depending on which one you were using.

In location, click on "Import Mail from an OE6 directory", click 'OK' and then give it the proper folder that contains the .DBX files (or if using v4, browse to the proper folder).

Once OE knows where the folder with the .DBX files is located, click {next, close, yes, finish} - whatever it takes to move the dialog box forward.

That should be all there is to it. Similar process for Outlook.
