    Driver Problems

When I upgraded my Toshiba Satellite 1700-300 to XP from ME the battery and also the sound card have stopped working. When I go to the battery in device manager it says the battery drivers are not installed but it wont let me install them from there. Do I need to update my BIOS?

If so how can I do that.

    Any help well appreciated thanks

    Welcome to WD forums Jon.

So I'd say given what you've said that a bios update may well help you out - ME & XP use a different methods of resolving 'sharing' in bios (there's loads of technobabble about that, but I shan't bore you with the 'why' )Try starting here (@ Toshiba uk support), put your model details in (cgi generated page so I can't link you direct ) & it should yield a suitable file, along with dome 'destructions' (& I say that, as it can cause problems if not done right!), read them carefully & follow exactly - any problems/uncertainty feel free to ask .

Let us know how you get on..
