Won't POST with AGP video cards, but works fine with PCI ones

I've got a small issue here with the motherboard in my computer (in sig, Gigabyte 7VT600P-RZ). It seems to boot up just fine with PCI video cards in it, however it won't POST at all with AGP cards, it won't beep either.

What happened: I was using the card, and suddenly the computer froze. Then I rebooted, and there was all this garbage on the screen (lots of unusual ASCII characters all over the screen on boot up). After a few reboots, it wouldn't boot at all.

I have tried other cards in this machine, with no luck. The video card in question seems to work in another motherboard, also.

Has anyone got any idea on what could be wrong?

Would I be able to claim that under warranty? (bought the board in August 2004, at a local PC shop)

Most likely, but check your original warranty statement in the manual or Gigabyte online for terms before you hit your dealer.

You might be able to return it to Giga-byte if all else fails.

I always do RMA straight to manufacturer if it's past 30 days. It's just easier than dealing with the rma depts of local guys..... Most you can do online in a few minutes.....

It could very well be a bad power surpply . The power works fine till it has to power the agp. I have seen this several times. Externally hook a different power surpply and then boot. If it isn't the power, the the board is bad or agp slot bad. Hope that will help. Pci card doesn't require as much power to post, same as with on-board video.
