Friday Poll: Television Statistics
I found this stat last night, "According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV-watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube." To have the number added up kind of blew my mind. How many years will you have invested in your TV at 65? This is the link to the whole paper: http://www.csun.edu/~vceed002/health...tv&health.html .

Don't wathc TV much... maybe half hour or an hour in the morning swapping between comedy and news... and maybe an hour and a half at night to watch CSI and Family Guy.... on the weekend I don't usually watch much TV, I may toss in a DVD and watch it though... but most of my time I'm on my computer... if you took the same poll vs computer use I'd probably be one of the highest users on here...
PS to give you an idea, the game I play (AC2) had a double XP weekend a little while ago... on day I sat there for 16 hours straight... washroom breaks and microwave pizza breaks, and smoke breaks are not considered.... longest stretch without moving from the spot was about 9 hours... I'm a huge geek... and yes I have a life outside of the computer and a fiancee, soon-to-be-wife...

I used to watch alot, then over the years it gradually reduced, now hardly a few hours a week, choice shows only. I prefer to rent DVD's and watch.

Mine's on a lot .. but I'm not necessarily watching it 'particularly', usually my kid (or somebody else's ! or in fact anybody but me) has control of the remote !
& even when the house is empty I'm quite often 'working' whilst at home & I'll be say 1/2 watching some recorded sport or whatever, whilst doing an install, & probably answering here all at the same time.
I suppose I'm 'watching it' for about 2hrs a day or so .. but its probably on a lot more one way or another.

I nominated 3-5 as that's likely to be how long the set runs, but I'm not sitting watching for that period. I see bits of things while I'm doing other stuff, news whilst cooking, etc. And sometimes I record and watch later like I've done with Dr Who tonight.

I watch TV when I have to do the ironing so that's a couple of hours on a sunday watching reruns of stargate or farscape or Dr who or whatever. I will sit down and watch Horizon when it is on (and get peeved when people talk to me when it's on). I watched Wonderfalls with my daughter on sky the other day - it was silly and random and we will probably watch it again next week. Aside from that Andromeda is the only other thing that currently gets my attention.
The TV is on when the children are in (whose children is often the question!) Cartoon Network with Fairly Odd Parents, Fosters and Ed Edd and Eddy being the current favourites.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Hi there,
I only watch documentary (like science and nature stuff), along with CSI, Law and Order (by the way, what happen to the black dude with the new old guy?) and Anime if it is aired.

I watch mostly on weekends, Cartoon Channel's Adult Swim, for Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell, Futurama and such. Occassionally the Sci Fi, History or Learning channels and a good movie on TCM. Don't have much time for the TV otherwise.
I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.
