Exclamation Have You Got This " Sick Feeling "

Its like this : remember when you pluged in ur Motherboard for the first time , affixed all the cables , connected all the drives, put everything together, and then , that smell . That unmistaken smell of melting wire and toasted resistors. hmmmmm ,,, ah yes fellow constructor , hmmmmmmmmm melted solder hmmmmmmmmm:

So after this brief interlude : This is the deal :

    I have a A7V-VM

Its works , But What I need is the SystemBoard Installation / Setup Disk on Cd. Some one some where has one , put away , I do require a copy or download or something ,

I have been to ASUS , its not listed , in their Motherboard Page listings .
I also have been to HP, as it came from a hp 7830 and there is no mention of of system board disks, up grades yes , but i need the disk, you know the one you use when you upgrade ur motherboard,

    thanks for the help people

    S

    Which A7V?

    The A7VI or A7VL-VM

The drivers are on asus site

    http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

    choose motherboard

then socketA(462) then scroll down to the A7 drivers near the bottom of the list

then on the next page click the driver tab..

excuse me mr mayet for being a little stupit, when you read my post you may have seen that the Motherboard was a ASUS A7V-VM which is printed in large white letters between the AGP slot and the 1st or 3rd PCI slot.

it is not a a7v??? or ant thing else, as i said before , its not listed on the ASUS site ,thanks for your help , well you did not really help at all

You simply need to download the appropriate drivers from the hp site..all the rest of the drivers are OS included if you choose which operating system you need drivers for. The recovery cd for that computer includes the operating system..there is no seperate driver disk, and if you were upgrading your motherboard, you would need different drivers anyway?

    Spyders.....

I think you owe Mayet an apology!

A7V-VM is NOT the board number but the board type, which is why nothing is listed on the Asustek web site.

If you have on-board graphics then it is an A7VL-VM.

If you do not have onboard graphics then it will be an A7VI-VM.

    Exactly as Mayet said.........

You can confirm this by studying the Bios splash screen on boot up - the exact number is listed in the wording there.

Quite an old board now... AMD Athlon/Duron 100fsb up to about 1.4ghz maximum if my memory is correct.

The actual boards were never available commercially, being OEM fitments usually installed in Hewlett-Packard & Compaq machines and are not one of the better boards from Asus......

    It is Mrs to you....

and please read and learn before you accuse me of not helping much. If I ddin't think I would be able to help you. I wouldn't of. I would have spent time playing with my six kids, or managing my shop or even mowing my lawn or cleaning my house or writing my book rather than giving my precious little free time to assist you.

I really cannot believe how arogant you are spyders. Ive read this post five times over, and find you offensive. Everyone has tried their best to help you, and have given you correct advise, but you cant see the wood for the trees can you.
I have an A7V-VM in front of me now, along with the original HP install discs as im reinstalling XP on it for a customer right now. So you know im not kidding, Its a HP board from a Pavilion system. No o/b graphics or sound, just PS/2, LAN, USB, COM and Parallel (oh, and some kind of riser connector at the bottom edge) . If you want the disc, lose the attitude and gain some manners and respect.
If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

I can find mention of that model all over google as an OEM model & that'd probably explain why you can't find anything at asus ..

I found this HP Pavilion Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications, ASUS A7V-VM at hp ... eventually !

but while I was looking I see that Geoscomp popped up with what was my 'real question' - just what on this cd do you 'need' ?

Gee Mayet! Isn't it wonderful being hammered by people who can't count their feet and come up with the same number twice in a row?

After what you said to Mayet I think maybe start by grabbing a clue
It doesnt sound like you should be working on systems with yer level of knowledge anyway.
At least go get Everest and run it on the system
That motherboard although likely made for crappy HP's by asus is still using a "certain" chipset (likely VIA) and a certain audio chipset (again likely VIA AC-97)
After that it isnt too too hard getting things running

Hellooo? Yes you are offensive! You are so selfcentered that you don't even know you are offensive. It's all about you getting what you want without reguard to anyone else. Have you ever heard of being polite??? No, probably not. The extent to which you care about anything other than yourself is evident in your total lack of ability to used the English language. "without being offensive to you's , I " extra spaces between the words "without" and "being" and between "you's" and ",". And what is "you's"? Obviously, you aren't inteligent enough to be working on this machine.

If you care about what you do and more importantly, WHO YOU DO IT FOR, then, you will begin to be a productive and might I say a desireable member of the human race. If I could give you something infinitely more important than a system recovery CD, (maybe a Human System Recovery CD?) it would be: Serve others in whatever you do. If you work for someone else, make sure that if he pays you $1.00 that you have made him at least $1.10. If you are self employed, treat every customer the way you want to be treated. If you do that, people will beat down your door to give you their business.
And Lastly, admit when you've made a mistake and do it like a man... ESPECIALLY if you have wronged a woman.

Mayet gave you everything you need "on a silver platter" and you have not yet thanked her but, instead have made fun of her and the whole forum with the "group hug" remark. tsk, tsk, tsk.
