    need advice

    I have an external hard drive that I want to share some files on. Every time I restart my computer the shares are no longer shared, but the permissions are the same. I have done something similar with a thumb drive and the files shared fine. I have a dell notebook with Windows XP Pro on it. I have never used an external hard drive before so maybe this is normal.

    I think all you are missing is remembering to make sure you are checking the box when mapping that says "reconnect at logon"
