does anyone know where to find umax astra 3400 usb driver for win98se that doesnt involve the 44Meg download from the umax website that will take about 2 days at my lame connection speed?

still no joy on the driver, tried japanese, taiwan and uk sites but they mostly direct to the huge 44MB download, the others have been removed from the server. thanx anyway.
i'm trying the driver download as i have a problem installing off the CD. windows does not recognise the USB as a valid device, i've tried it on 3 different computers with different usb cables so i thought i'd try a different driver.

One last thing...

Is anything else hooked up to your USB...such as keyboard or hub or something? I know that HP scanners do not like going through another unit...they need to be hooked up directly.

Also, how does it look in Device Manager? Any errors or exclamation marks next to USB?

the scanner is connected direct to the usb port (there is a printer in the otherone but that shouldnt make a difference). in the device manager it shows up with a yellow exclamation mark with unknown usb device (even when all drivers have been installed). its like this on which ever comp i set it up on.
