    Problem w/ Samsung H522U

    Hi-
    I bought this model a few weeks ago.
    It seems to burn DVD's alright but the time it takes to burn to DVD is ridiculous (I use both Nero and DVD Decrypter).
    I bought it to replace my Lite-On 4x drive but that one burned almost twice as fast in comparison.
    One goof I did make was installing the DOS driver before reading how it is used for reading and not writing.
    I've upgraded the firmware, re-installed the Nero suite which came with the drive, all to no avail.
    One other thing which puzzles me:
    When I still had the Lite-On drive, sometimes it would burn a disc in 26 minutes and then, the next time, in only 13 minutes without my having made any changes (at least none that I could remember(.
    I've read here about problems with this drive but I'm not sure which action to take.
    Any suggestions?

    You need to check on few things before arriving at any conclusion.

    Try Liveupdate of samsung DVD R/W firmware from samsung website

    (Read instructions carefully before going about it.)

    Check amount of free space on your system partition should be >= requirement by manufacturer.

    Update Nero with recent updates..

    Always provide a overview of your computer specifications along with the problem...

    Windows XP w/ SP2
    Celeron 2.2 Ghz
    512 RAM

    Sorry, I forgot to mention that I already did the Live Update and am now running with US06.
