com 3 is lost
modem was on com 3 now com 3 is missing and modem does not work ?how to fix this . thanks

silver one, welcome to WinDrivers.
It sounds like your modem is an internal WinModem, the driver for one of these sets up a virtual Com port (frequently COM3). Most likely the driver installation has become corrupted.
If this describes your system, you could try re-installing the drivers from the CD supplied with the modem, if you still have it. This would re-create the virtual COM3 and set up the modem on it. If you don't have the disk, and aren't sure exactly what model the modem is, to identify the modem chipset & find drivers, you could download the free Everest Home Edition program.
Once we know what the program says about your modem we should be able to locate suitable drivers.

iuseing a frineds computer after down load can not get to mine/
oh well i think it is a lucent 56k usb
