Internet Connection Sharing...
Hi! I have a laptop and a PC and want to share the internet connection on both. I am using a eathernet cross over cable and have setup a peer to peer network.
I do I go about sharing the internet contion on both at the same time? I have a cable connection.

Simplest and Fastest way is to use a router because of the protection

So can you not do it without a router then? or is it much harder i havn't had much experience in this field.

Ferrit linked to a tutorial which does it without a router - just a router is sooo much easier and you don't have to leave a computer on all the time so the others can access the internet.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Yes you can but its really a PITA
IF at all possible go with a router

Absolutely agreed , all this 'use a x-over cable' stuff is from when home routers cost an arm & a leg .. & now they don't !

Mostly the cost the same or a fraction more than a modem, in the UK anyway.
