    hard drive space

    When I look at the properties of my C: drive (running XP Pro) it indicates that 67GB of the 80GB is 'used space'.

    However, if I select all within C: and see the total space by selecting all and looking at 'size' within properties it is indicating that only 30GB is being used.

    Can anyone advise how I would go about reclaiming that lost space?

    Use disk manager to see accurately what is there. Right click my computer,choose manage and then when the window opens look on the left side for Disk management.
    you might want to run a chkdsk /r from the command prompt
    Start run type cmd and hit enter.
    When the command box opens type chkdsk /r and hit enter.
    It will complain and say it cant be checked as its in use.
    Would you like to check it on the next reboot. Choose Y for yes.
    Close the box and reboot and it will run it on boot

    System restore in XP eats up a lot of space so perhaps some of the missing space is related to that.
