    Help! XP issue

Working on a system. continually ret a pop-up stating there are registry errors. Also getting different addresses to go to for a "Fix" all addresses direct to same site. Looks like a scam.
Problem is I can't get into "Task Mgr" can't run Hijack this, cant update virus defs, etc.

    Ideas????

hijack this in safe mode will work...I think... how about msconfig?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Thanks NooNoo Getting into safe mode has been spotty.
Looked at Config....didn't see anything hosed. Let me compare to mine.
I'm not sure HJT will run in Safe Mode.

Let me check HJT is there anything in particular that you can think of that would shut down diagnostics? I'll recheck NooNoo's post on removals. What has me thrown, is the multiple addresses that direct me to the same site.

I would download adaware and the newest defs, spybot s&d and the newest defs, mocrosoft antispyware, and hijack this..put em on a cd and boot to safe mode..install everything except microsoft antispyware and run first adaware and then spybot and then hijack this..and post the log if you have questions about what to remove....then reboot to normal mode and install microsoft antispyware..update the defs and run a full scan and then let it turn off your netbios when it asks if it should..usually these particular messages are sent that way.

Generally you should also disable System Restore before scanning.
