    Unhappy driver is installed but no audio device

    Hi.
    i had a prob with my sound so i reinstalled the yamaha AC-XG audio device but even after that there's no sound. actually the sounds & audio device shows there's no audio device & that the device is enabled & instaled but not started.
    pleaaaaase help

    What is shown in device manager under multimedia and sound - properties for the sound device? Any error codes?
    What windows are you running?

    hi. there r no error codes. the sound driver device is correctly installed & enabled. but the device sais that device is working properly but has not been started.
    i'm running a Windows XP.

    have you tried the latest reference driver from Yamaha?

    Where did the existing driver come from?
    What is your motherboard please? Oh and are you running SP2?

    the existing driver was installed when i baught the computer. & yes i'm running SP2. but i dont know about my motherboard.

    In my signature is everest that will tell you about your computer. If it is a branded computer, then tell me the make and model.

    Did you try the driver I linked in the above post?

    the driver u linked is not working neither. the motherboard is DMI Toshiba Portable PC

    Err no, that is not a motherboard, that is a type of laptop. Could you post the full model number of your Toshiba?
