If you look at the manual supplied, there should be a section on Memory configurations. Not being familuar with the board in question I would recommend you read that section. But most likely, slot 1 & 3 will give you dual channel mode.

Dammed Angel is exactly right there is a module slot off by itself
1 stick goes in there and the other goes in the first of the 2 together.
All this is likely in the manual.
Heaven forbid Asus wouldnt give out adequate documentation

that is correct. put a stick into slot 1 and another into slot 3.
But, it has to be a matching pair of memory. So you can stick in 2x256 or 2x512 but not 1x256 + 1x512. They both have to be the same size module. It is also recomended that they be matching as in both the same manufacturer and physically look identical, but they don't always have to be.

Thats what the man said but
Useing anything but a dual channel kit in my opinion is risky buisness
I am not saying it doesnt work but I have even seen 2 exact pieces of the same kinda ram bought at the same time that wouldnt run together
Extreme circumstance, yes but it happens

I can tell u for sure that my mobo, a7n8x-x, has no dual channel mode. I have tried that myself, and also the manual doesnt say anything about.

the deluxe version of the A7N8X (A7N8X-E DELUXE) has dual channel, 2 x 256 in slots 1 and 3 and 512 in the centre, slot 2 will give a gig running in dual channel or 512 in slot 1 and 256 in slot 2 and three. motherboard has only 3 slots, both these configs will work with good quality ram, ie Samsung

I just got a new mobo, socket A, from K7N2 Delta2 Series,
MS-6570E (v.1X) ATX (MSI).
with these chipsets
NVIDIA nFORCE 2 Ultra 400/IGP & NVIDIA Gigabit MCP/RAID MCP.
Supports Dual Channel Mode and has 3 slots DIMM 2+1, max 3 GB.
My major question is this: Can i have dual channel mode if I put in 256 in slots 1&3 and 512 in slot 2?
However, pc says me in starting screen msg that i have it...

How can I know if I have, in real time, dual channel or no? Is there any test to find out???

Dual Channel means exactly the same sticks of memory, that means 2x256 OR 512x2 OR 1gbx2, no mixing allowed.

Yes, we already said that. But if i put 256+512, my pc says (in starting screen) that i have dual channel! Does my pc lie? Also, my major problem which still havent got answer is: I have 3 slots. If I put 256 in slot 1, 512 in slot 2, 256 in slot 3, will i have dual ch.mode of 1 GB? (My pc also says I will)...

What does the motherboard manual say about dual channel availability?
Isthis your motherboard?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

On my DFI lanparty board I put a 256 stick in both slot 1&2 and 512 in slot 3 the puter sees the 2 sticks of 256 as one 512 and then enables dual mode with the other 512 stick in slot 3.
for 1GB of dual channel. When the Mobo posts in this configuration it displays "Dual channel memory enabled" Most systems that I've worked on are set like this.
Don't know if this helps, or just muddies the water even more.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid-in-sideways, totally worn out, shouting. "Holy sh!t.. what a ride!"
