    Asus SP97-V VGA not working

    Hi,
I have Asus SP97-V motherboard vith VGA onboard.
I used it for a long time, but when I switched it on yesterday,
black screen , it looks like disconnected monitor.
When I insert PCI VGA card, it works fine, but when I try to use VGA onboard,
black screen. I tried to reset bios settings with no result.
    Could anybody help me?

    Thanks very much

It's possible that the onboard video is shot. Did you make sure that the onboard video is enabled in the bios? If it's enabled....you may be stuck with using a pci video card.

If the motherboard uses system ram for video ram then its most likely a BIOS setting.. Do you get any errors on boot up when you boot with a PCI card?

But as you have said in your original post, you have looked at the BIOS settings.... I don't hold much hope. As Kermit has said - it maybe that the onboard video has given up, the motherboard is rather old if I remember correctly.

    Good Luck

I might start by looking in the device manager under Display Adapters to see if ther eis another besides the pci you put in with a yellow ! on it.
If its not there then likely its shot.
But if it is there boot in safe mode and remove it completly, then reboot back to regular mode see if its just a driver issue

This motherboard has a hardware jumper to enable/disable on-board video - look for it. You can download the manual from ASUS site, if you don't have it.
Also make sure VGA ribbon cable is connected properly to the VGA connector on the motherboard.
Make sure you have filled proper memory bank with memory sticks (EDO or FPM), they must be used in pairs. This MB use part of memory for video (up to 4 MB) and only one of 2 memory banks is shared... so, may be you have installed memory into wrong bank - check the manual...
