Problem Fixed, i solved this one myself by checking out the support on packard bell they're quite good surprisingly. If anybody else has this problem then they can get the drivers from this location.

i still have one problem, i cant get sndvol32.exe to load up. maybe it is missing any ideas?

    Welcome to Windrivers Mitcha

sndvol32.exe is the volume properties for playback and record.

Never played with media centre, so I am not sure if it even has it... if you type in SFC to the run command do you get that... wait, does it have a run command??

no sndvol32.exe in media centre. that solves that one then

Have you checked the sound card you are using is supported by Media Centre? Media Centre is not an entertainment version of XP... using any component that is not in the support list is likely to fail.

    Sound Cards and XP

    Hi Mitcha
Try using the function in XP to use an older driver for any hardware devices. In this way the OS uses a 'ring-fenced' approach and can get round most problems. the name of the thing is 'compatibility wizard', if you don't already know.
    Hope this helps
