Dimension 4100 in BIOS recovery mode
I have received a Dell Dimension 4100 system for repair. The system appears to be in its BIOS recovery mode - it repeatedly attempts to boot from the floppy disk drive. My POST code reader reports code EC, the reference chart indicates the E codes are BIOS recovery mode checkpoints. No video since the included video adapter is AGP. I haven't tried a PCI card but from what I've read you must have an ISA card to have video in recovery mode, and this system has no ISA slots. The Dimension BIOS updates from Dell come as interactive .EXE files that would be impossible to run without video support. I have not found any way to extract the raw BIOS image from these interactive flashers. What are my options for reflashing a bios on to this system? Also, does the 4100 feature a recovery mode "jumper?"I have been able to find almost no documentation regarding this feature on Dell systems.
