buffer keeps going down - burn freezes

hey everyone.. my CDRW repeatedly freezes or goes extremely slow while burning (10 minutes at 16x) - and the buffer goes down to the 20's and 30's - etc - then jumps up to 100 then back down - anyhow - I bought a brand new Sony DVD-RW thinking it would fix the problem (and I needed a DVD burner) - so after I installed it - I started to burn something - and I have the same exact problem.. so it can't be the drivers on the burner.. i'm thinking it may be the power cord and the other cord (sorry i don't know the name) that is connected inside the PC.. any ideas?

    uh ok..

anytime i burn anything in the non-nero software - it just finishes the cd in 1 minute and says operation successful - and the cd has the audio file on it - but it doesnt play correctly..

and with Nero it just freezes after the buffer goes up and down

at this point - i've tried both my old CDRW and my brand new DVDR.. with Nero and without Nero.

    :/
