Pop ups and virus
Hi there, i received the win32.chod.d adn win32.qhost virus over msn messanger from my friend. I think i ahve fixed it but not 100% as it came back once. I have run nuerous virus scans from f-secure, norton, panda online adn tried spyware, adawear, microsoft anti-malaware, hijackthis and spybot and they arent picking up anything at the moment but it is still written in msconfig (unticked) does that mean that it is still on my computer?
Also after receiving the virus i ahve started getting a few popups from yieldmanager adn also onces from wwf. How do i remove these? Below is my Hijackthis log, any ideas? I have my pop-up blocker on firefox and internet explorer but that doesnt stop it.
Thanks for you help

Fudge, many current pests won't show up in HijackThis. Ewido is certainly a decent pest killer, but I still prefer the new version of SpySweeper. It fixes most of the gripes I had with earlier versions and I've found it to remove some things that ewido failed to detect, let alone kill. Free trial download from: http://www.webroot.com/

If all else fails, back up data and restore computer. Viruses do tricky things and even if a removal tool has been run or a virus scan says it is gotten rid of there may be some residual effects like registry entries and such. I am sure there are ways it can be fixed manually, but sometimes it is not worth the time or effort.

Well, Fudge, there is always Plan... D, E, uh, whatever letter we are up to by now! Try Spycatcher Express from: http://www.tenebril.com/
It can block more unknown nasties than most other programs and is safer than other versions of Spycatcher were. It is less likely to prompt you to remove legitimate program files. BTW, if you haven't run all these scans in Safe Mode, you sould do that as well as disabling System Restore.
And Ferrit, you are dead on. No malware tool works 100% anymore! I keep a file of most malware removal tools known to man in a folder on my desktop (along with any available updates) and burn the lot to a CD weekly.
