Slow Open/Save dialog and expand folders

    Hi :O)

Having this xp machine that is slow to expand a folder when I want to save some attachment to a local folder from outlook 2007 save attachment menu.
If I open the folder I want to save in lets say total commander - It opens promptly.

    Please advise,

    Thank you

sounds like corrupted sectors to me. Might want to do a test of the drive.
One Script to rule them all.
    One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
    and clean up after itself.

    Hi Niclo,

It seems to be a problem only when saving things from outlook.....I'm afraid it's not a failing drive.
    I read this post :

    http://joshuabrauer.com/save-as_slow_microsoft_office

And someone named Jeff wrote : " I was able to fix my problem by going to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View tab - and then under the 'Files and Folders' subfolder, I unchecked 'Automatically search for network folders and printers' and it seems to have fixed the problem"

    Another guy wrote :

    "Please check :
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Recent and delete everything inside for a supplemental fix."

Might worth trying....Will contact the client tommorow and try it....

Check if the folder opens normally in explorer. I've seen issues with slowness rendering icons by 3rd party apps for some file types. Easy to confirm by removing all files from that folder.
