can't download realtek ac97 driver!

Hi,

i had a virus and so i had to re-install my computer. (i'm running a windows xp athlon 64 3800)

When i booted from disk i had to re-install a lot of my hardware including grapahics card and monitor etc. However the one thing i can't re-install is my sound card? (realtek ac 97) My computer can't find it and the file i presumed it was doesnt work.
So the obvious thing is to download it right? Well for some reason that doesn't work! not anywhere i try! all it says is ftp cant connect or something like that. i even tried a driver update program and it just said it could'nt download it, "server may be busy"

Is it just me or is it a problem with this driver? i can download anything else no problem, just not this one driver!
i would appreciate any help.

yeah i think thats the one but i cant download it for some reason. if i try to "save target as" it says, cant download ftp disconnetcted. if i try just clicking on it the new window appears and says page not available? i'm trying something fom asus at the mo hope that it works but its massive so it'll take ages to download.

hmmmm didnt work thinkin i may just buy a proper audio card

There are several different Realtek audio chips. You should check your mainboard manufacturer's site for the one that matches your board. You can also find Realtek (now Via) sound drivers at Via Arena.
