Big Problem w external CD burner
Hello - here's my story. I have a Dell laptop Inspiron 2650 running Windows XP with an external CD burner DVD player my friend built for me (he has since moved). It worked fine then one day I got a virus and had my drive formatted and partitioned.
Since I can play DVD's & CD's but NOT burn them through Nero or windows. THe CD begins to burn but stops at 4% and then freezes and jams up the computer. After spending 3 hrs and 20 min on the phone w a friend checking the drivers, I decided to purchase a new burner. I STILL have the same problems.
I have a USB 2.0 Cardbus card it plugs into.
I would greatly appreciate any help - I'm just so frustrated and not a techie so I have been relying on friends, but this is getting too involved.
thanks,
a desperate Ken

I would say that you probably want the drivers for the Cardbus off the laptop manufacturer, and the drivers for the PCMICIA USB card. Install these & get back to us.

Well the problem is corrected. It was the drivers for the usb 2 card. A disk came with the card, but it had many files - none executable, for everything the company sold. I showed it to a friend who builds computers and he said the average person would never find it or know what to do.
Anyway case closed.
thanks, ken
