WSUS Group Policy Issues
We are currently running SUS and it is pulling updates from another site. I assume there is a GP on my OU that connects all pc's to this SUS server since we are in an AD environment. Now, I am trying to implement WSUS locally, but I do not have access to the GP object that is telling the pc's to go to the original SUS. I want to test a few machines on WSUS, but I cannot get them redirected to the new WSUS server. Is there a way around this so I can test WSUS? I have manually edited the local group policy with the new server name as well but still no go.

If the SUS settings are defined in AD you will need to access AD to change them. Local policy settings can and will be modified by AD policies. You will find your SUS/WSUS settings under the Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update section.

Thanks. No matter what I change to location to in my WSUS settings, it always directs to the old SUS. I played around with it yesterday and found out that if I remove a pc from the domain and point it to the WSUS server then it works fine. This tells me that GP defined in AD is overriding anything I do as far as WSUS. I will just have to wait til the person with Admin rights to the DC returns from vacation to help me the rest of the way.
