Reformatted/reinstalled windows, now I have no sound device.

Howdy guys, I have a nice alienware computer. Unfortunately I overloaded it with utter crap and their support has been nonexistent, so to try and get some sound out of my speakers I come to you.
I reformatted/reinstalled windows, and I had 0 drivers. I reinstalled graphics and such, but it says I have no audio device. The thing is, I have onboard sound (7.1) and I have no idea how to reenable it.

Here's my specs:Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600) alienware alienware alienware

I'll try this out now. I'm downloading the first set of drivers on http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us, since they appear to be the only kind of drivers available for WinXP 32 bit. Hope it doesn't kill my computer.

I clicked on the setup.exe in the folder after downloading it, and it said the drivers were installed on my computer. It prompts a restart, so I rebooted. I still have no audio device! What should I do?

    Hi bgknp,

I had a similar problem installing my SB Live24. I solved it by activating the Windows Audio service (may be I disabled that to increase performance)...

I had the same problem recently with a HP it woul dnot find the audio device and HP's realtek drivers were not working. To fix it i had to download the stock audio drivers the manufactuered HP's come out with think it was like a 40meg's of audiofiles. Well i ran it and sure enough one of them was teh right one so you might try alienware and see if they have anything related to that. Also make sure on board audio is enabled in your BIOS
