MSI RS480IL- Ram compatibility etc.
Hiya guys,
I've gotta admit that this little situation is confusing me at the mo
I've currently got a MSI RS480IL with 2x Crucial 512mb PC3200 sticks running in dual-chanel mode. I want to add another 2gb to the PC, and I'm totally confused on whether or not it accepts HD ram (And for that matter whether it will continue in dual-chanel mode).
I want to add two of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MICRON-1GB-PC-...QQcmdZViewItem
which are HD Micron. Looking at the Micron site, the page for my mobo appears to suggest that they will work:
http://www.crucial.com/store/listpar...2-IL)&tabid=AM
but I'm in no manner sure.
Secondly, the manual states that it will only run with 1,2 or 4 RAM modules, and is capable of dual-channel mode when both sets of slots have matched pairs- Does it matter if the RAM in the other two slots is of a different size? (And for that matter will I even notice?)
Drat, just realised that I don't even know if its LD or HD RAM currently in the machine  You responses still appreciated, but I dont get my hands on it again until Wednesday.
Cheers
