    Angry hidden outlook2000 files in XP

    I installed outlook2000 on winXP.

    I want to move my old pst and rwz files from my old win98 outlook.

    In XP they are in hidden files.
    The files show up when I do a search, but how do I make them visible in explorer so I can replace them with the old files?

    I think you're asking where Windows XP stores the .pst files for Outlook, is that correct?

    If so, it's at c:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

    If you can't see the "Local Settings" folder, in explorer, click the "Tools" menu, then choose "Folder Options", then click the "View" tab and click "Show hidden files and folders" button.

    But, if I'm following you correctly, you want to bring over your .pst file from an older version of Outlook, correct? If so, you should use Outlook's Import feature to do this (located on the "File" menu); not just manually copy the .pst file over.

    cant see outlook.pst

    using XPpro

    When I show the system and hidden files, I can see the the outlook files, .rwz etc in the outlook directory but not outlook.pst.

    When I do a search it finds outlook.pst, in that same directory.

    I know I can import my old outlook.pst file, but in the past with win98 I sometimes replaced the file and it worked fine.

    I also like to copy it as a backup.

    So, any ideas about why it doesn't show up.

    Are you certain your browsing to the correct folder? Try doing a seach again, and when it locates outlook.pst, right-click it, and select "Open containing folder"

    The reason I said to use the import feature, is I'm guessing you're copying a pst file from an older version of Outlook, so simply copying it may not work properly. Use the import feature to be safe.
